From Lux to Cph

At only 1 hour 1/2 away by flight from Luxembourg, there is Copenhagen ("København" in Danish).
A seulement 1 heure 1/2 par avion de Luxembourg, il y a Copenhague ("København" en danois).


I really enjoyed walking through the entire city, even though it was snowing like crazy on the first day of my stay. I particularly liked the Nationalmuseet.
J'ai vraiment aimé me promener à travers la ville, même si il neigeait comme jamais le premier jour de mon séjour. J'ai tout particulièrement aimé le Nationalmuseet.

Berlin (Germany)

A Luxembourg airport ad boasted about how easy it is to travel fom the Grand Duchy. For my last holydays, in January, I thus decided to fly to Berlin, only 1 hour 1/2 from Luxembourg.
Une publicité de l'aéroport de Luxembourg vantait le fait qu'il était très facile de voyager à partir du Grand-Duché. Pour mes dernières vacances, en janvier, j'ai ainsi décidé de prendre l'avion pour Berlin, situé à seulement 1 heure 20 de Luxembourg.

Once there, be prepared, plan you stay because there is so much to see! The new chancellery (Bundeskanzleramt) called the "washing machine" because of its peculiar architecture, the superb Reichstag's dome ...
Une fois là-bas, tenez-vous prêt, planifie ton séjour parce qu'il y a beaucoup à voir ! La nouvelle chancellerie (Bundeskanzleramt) appelée la "machine à laver" en raison de son architecture particulière, le superbe dôme du Reichstag...

Luxembugerli

"Luxembugerli", that sounds very Luxembourgish, right? But the truth is that almost no one here would know about it. Or maybe expatriates from Zürich could tell you about it... The reason is that those delicate Macaroons may only be found in Switzerland, and above all in Zürich.

"Luxemburgerli", cela sonne très Luxembourgeois, pas vrai ? La vérité pourtant est qu'ici personne ou presque ne les connaît. Ou peut-être les expatriés de Zürich pourraient vous en parler... La raison est que ces délicats macarons ne peuvent se trouver qu'en Suisse et tout particulièrement à Zürich.


However, Luxemburgerlis somewhat find their roots in Luxembourg and more precisely with Confiserie Namur. Some years ago, some confectioners from Zürich were working in the Grand Duchy as trainees at the time, and their young counterparts from Luxembourg had the equivalent right to work in Zürich . Towards the end of the 1950s, in Zürich, Camille Studer, a young confectioner from Luxembourg started to work on the speciality of his mentor, i.e., the Luxembugerlis, in order to compete in a internal competition. Over the years, Zurich slowly acquired a taste for Luxemburgerlis.

Cependant, les Luxemburgerlis trouvent tout de même leurs racines à Luxembourg, et plus précisément avec la Confiserie Namur. Quelques années en arrière, des artisans pâtissiers de Zürich travaillaient dans le Grand-Duché en tant qu'élèves apprentis, et leurs jeunes collègues de Luxembourg avaient de la même façon le droit de travailler à Zürich. Vers la fin des années 1950, à Zürich, Camille Studer, un jeune artisan pâtissier originaire de Luxembourg a commencé à travailler sur la spécialité de son mentor, c'est-à-dire les Luxembugerlis, de façon à préparer un concours de pâtisserie. Au cours des années, Zürich est progressivement tombé sous le charme des Luxemburgerlis.

When the ducks become lake-less...

... Danes go ice-skating!

Danish winter is this year especially cold... which means very very cold!

One could believe that everybody will stay in, were it is warm and cosy.

But guess what? Danes are real vikings and they are making the best out of this freezing cold... which includes going ice-skating, walking or even biking on the frozen lakes!

L'hiver danois est particulièrement froid cette année... ce qui veut dire très très froid!

On pourrait croire que tout le monde resterait au chaud chez soi.

Et bien devinez quoi? Les Danois sont de vrais vikings et profitent au maximum du froid glacial... ce qui veut dire aller faire du patin à glace, une simple marche ou même du vélo sur les lacs gelés!
