Passing by one major international hotel in the center of Luxembourg, I saw floatting colorful fishes...with the latter, the hotel wished to honor a Japanse celebration.
En passant devant un grand hôtel international dans le centre de Luxembourg, j'ai vu des poissons colorés flottants...avec ces derniers, l'hôtel voulait honorer une célébration japonaise.
Indeed, on May 5th, in Japan, that is the children's fest or "kodomo no hi"; in the past, the fest was purely dedicated to boys. On that special occasion, people hang fabric-made carps on a pole. The symbolic meaning being the following: (i) the ribbons set together or "fukinagashi" represent the stream, (ii) the biggest and black carp or "magoi" representing the father, (iii) another carp but smaller and red or "higoi", representing the mother, and (iv) the smallest carps representing children. On the picture, I can only see one small and blue carp...
En effet, le 5 mai, au Japon, c'est la fête des enfants ou "kodomo no hi"; par le passé, la fête était uniquement dédié aux garçons. A cette occasion, les gens accroche des carpes de tissu sur une hampe. La symbolique est la suivante : (i) le flot de rubans ou "fukinagashi" représente le torrent, (ii) la carpe la plus grosse et de couleur noire ou "magoi" représente le père, (iii) une autre carpe mais plus petite et de couleur rouge ou "higoi" représente la mère, et (iv) les plus petites carpes représentant les enfants. Sur la photo, je ne peux voir qu'une seule petite carpe de couleur bleue...
