"Luxembugerli", that sounds very Luxembourgish, right? But the truth is that almost no one here would know about it. Or maybe expatriates from Zürich could tell you about it... The reason is that those delicate Macaroons may only be found in Switzerland, and above all in Zürich.

"Luxemburgerli", cela sonne très Luxembourgeois, pas vrai ? La vérité pourtant est qu'ici personne ou presque ne les connaît. Ou peut-être les expatriés de Zürich pourraient vous en parler... La raison est que ces délicats macarons ne peuvent se trouver qu'en Suisse et tout particulièrement à Zürich.


However, Luxemburgerlis somewhat find their roots in Luxembourg and more precisely with Confiserie Namur. Some years ago, some confectioners from Zürich were working in the Grand Duchy as trainees at the time, and their young counterparts from Luxembourg had the equivalent right to work in Zürich . Towards the end of the 1950s, in Zürich, Camille Studer, a young confectioner from Luxembourg started to work on the speciality of his mentor, i.e., the Luxembugerlis, in order to compete in a internal competition. Over the years, Zurich slowly acquired a taste for Luxemburgerlis.

Cependant, les Luxemburgerlis trouvent tout de même leurs racines à Luxembourg, et plus précisément avec la Confiserie Namur. Quelques années en arrière, des artisans pâtissiers de Zürich travaillaient dans le Grand-Duché en tant qu'élèves apprentis, et leurs jeunes collègues de Luxembourg avaient de la même façon le droit de travailler à Zürich. Vers la fin des années 1950, à Zürich, Camille Studer, un jeune artisan pâtissier originaire de Luxembourg a commencé à travailler sur la spécialité de son mentor, c'est-à-dire les Luxembugerlis, de façon à préparer un concours de pâtisserie. Au cours des années, Zürich est progressivement tombé sous le charme des Luxemburgerlis.
